Redwings’ Night at the Science Museum On Friday afternoon, 10th May, 20 pupils plus 5 adults departed from Charing station to experience an exciting ‘Astronights’ event at London’s Science Museum, along with over 400 other participants from around the country. Several members of the public on the train chatted to our pupils - and were astonished to discover such an opportunity existed!
We attended workshops on the planets, rocket technology (which including many loud explosions!) enjoyed time exploring the interactive Wonderlab and finally on Saturday morning watched a film about the international space station in the museum’s state of the art Imax cinema. The highlight of the trip for many of the children (but not necessarily the adults!) was being able to spend the night in one of the museum’s exhibition galleries, with 100 other people; which must be one of the most unique places to sleep!
We arrived back at Charing on Saturday lunchtime, weary - but happy. We would like to thank Mrs Walker, Mrs Dunn, Mrs Milton and Mr Evans for accompanying us, and for giving up part of their weekend to enable the trip to take place.
